My Mom

I love my mom. I know that this isn't really typical of teenagers, but my mom isn't really the typical mom. She does a lot for me, and doesn't ask for anything in return.

Her whole life seems to revolve around her children. She gives most of her time to us, sacrificing it over things she could do for herself. She gets up at 5am with me every weekday morning so that she can drive me to Seminary, then either drives me to Everett or goes home to get my siblings ready for school, depending on what day it is in the carpool schedule. Then she comes a few hours later to pick me up. When my siblings and I are all home, she endures our whining. Together with my dad, she makes dinner for us, cleans up our messes, and gets us all into bed despite all the fighting and complaining. And that's just a normal day.

Truly mothers are amazing.

Cinnamon's Kittens

Hello again! I finally got that picture of the kittens I told you I'd upload. They're so cute. :)

Notice the white one sprawled across the top of two others. They obviously have no concept of personal space. They all sleep in a pile too. They're still too young to play with, but they're definitely adorable. When they get older I'll take better pictures of them so that you can get to know them individually. I'm sure I'll have plenty of stories to tell once they start ripping through the house.

Little Kittens!

One of my female cats has had kittens! Seven of them. It's not the first time one of my cats has given birth, but it's still exciting every time. Kittens are very cute later in life, but when they're first born they just like little blind rats. Still, they've got some element of charm due to their tiny, fragile helplessness.

Here's a picture of the mom from about a year ago:

Isn't she pretty? Of the two female cats who can give birth though, she's not the best mom. She has a tendency to get irritated when her kittens are mewing for her and will sometimes growl at them as she comes to nurse.

Still though, it's nice to see her as a mom. When someone comes to give her attention while her babies are feeding, she'll get this super happy look in her eyes and start purring. It's so cute! I haven't mentioned it yet, but a cat's purr is my favorite sound in the world.

I'll upload pictures of the kittens at some point. Stay tuned! :)
